Fuel Queues: Group charges security operatives to check the excesses of petrol black marketers

A public awareness group – Oil and Gas Progress – has charged Government security agencies to halt the activities of black marketers as the panacea to the lingering fuel queues in some parts of Nigeria.

President of the group, Mallam Abdullahi Sabiu made this call in a press statement in Abuja yesterday, citing that “those waging this economic war against Nigeria have devised a means of constructing additional tanks in the boot of their vehicles as a means of acquiring fuel and reselling at exorbitant prices”.

He urged security agencies to “investigate this claim and apprehend, these criminals subjecting Nigerians to hardship and exploiting motorists”.

Mallam Abdullahi also added that, black marketing is a chain involving many conspirators that facilitate this process.

After the briefing, an undercover investigation from our energy reporter confirmed this ascertion as a black marketer along Kubwa expressway revealed that profit margin stands between 75-100%. He also promised to guide the undercover reporter on how to get a good purchase and where to dispose fast.

It is obvious that owners of petrol stations and pump attendants aid the diversion of petrol through various means to get kickbacks in return.
