MORE CONDEMNATION TRAILS SPEAKER OBASA’S N100 COVID ’19 BREAD

By Bunmi Orija

To existing national and international standard, Nigerians expect their elected representatives and leaders into various political offices to defend them accordingly by taking their pleads to the powers that be for quick and easy intervention, but unfortunately in this country, the people or perhaps the followers have severally being disappointed.

However, it is at times very surprising that some of those who brutally attract more pains instead of dividends of democracy are the so called most powerful and highly connected political office holders.

According to reports emanating from his constituency, Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, the Rt.Hon. Idowu Mudashiru Obasa is not living up to expectation most especially in this trying period of corona virus which is gradually deleting humanity. This man, according to the existing law of the federal republic of Nigeria is the number three most powerful person in Lagos State, the commercial nerve center of Nigeria.

It could be recalled that Speaker Obasa was massively voted for by the people of Agege Constituency 1 to represent them for yet another term and this time around, he was also made the numero uno of the LAHA, overseeing the day to day running of affairs of lawmaking in the state of aquatic splendour. But to the dismay of many of his constituents, According to some of the residents of Agege State Constituency spoken to by towncrier.ng, Hon. Obasa just simply proofed to be an enemy rather than a leader and a father figure to his constituents and political supporters. With the dangerous spate of the Covid ’19 epidemic, the chubby and well fed speaker only believed that what the people that voted him into power deserve is just a loaf of the popular ‘Agege Bread’ for a whole family and sometimes for an entire building. At the initial stage of this unbelievable news, towncrier.ng was highly inquisitive and decided to take the bulls by the horns to conduct an investigative journalism in order to ascertain the story to our esteemed readers. Lo and behold, it was confirmed by our correspondent that the rumour was genuine and intact.

The supposed honorable stooped so low by distributing these ‘Obasa’ branded loaves of bread to his constituents which shows that he does not respect or regard their existence and never see them as important to his future political aspirations.
However, in order to show him that they are very vital and cogent to his further political dreams, some youths in the area trooped out with the breads and turned them to football, enjoying themselves in the free roads as footballers, kicking off the name of Obasa without any regards to his position as the Speaker of LAHA. According to some of the residents of Agege, they believed it was disgusting for Mudashiru Obasa to think they are fools or so hungry to the level of a whole household sharing a loaf of bread worth a paltry N100 in thus trying lockdown period even when many of his subordinates in the house are putting astonishing smiles to the faces of their constituents. Towncrier.ng however believe this will be a big lesson for the Lagos House Speaker to learn and make an instant amendment if he wants to grow higher in his political career and avoid being a hitherto popular politician who suddenly goes into oblivion.
