Outcry Over Poor Medical Services, Blackout In BMH

Across session of medical seekers in the government owned Braithwaite Medical Hospital situated along the old -G.R.A in Port Harcourt, are now lamenting and complaining about the rate of death and poor medical services rendered by the hospital consequences on negligence, unhygienic environment and blackout affecting the smooth operation of the hospital.

 

some of those interview in Port Harcourt, have blamed poor management of the hospital by the people saddled with the responsibility of making the hospital effective for the health needs of the people of the state, stressing that the unhygienic environment, noise pollution and poor attendant of doctors and nurses to patient, has resulted into so many deaths and other health challenges even though some of the complications said may have directly or indirectly affected the image of the hospital that was known for high quality health services.

A source that refused his name to be mentioned also accused some doctors and nurses that she accused of only received salary without reporting to duty, stressing that in the process where some of them attend to patient, their services are only based on referment either to their private hospitals or friends hospital with most of the drugs stolen from the state government hospital.

 

Recall that the past administration led by Barr.Nyesom Wike, who is now the minister of the Federal Capital Territory released the sum of $4 million dollar to upgrade the state’s Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, BMH, with a promised to build an international hospital to cater for cancer, kidney and other related challenges in the state.

 

But outside the whopping sum said to have been released by the previous administration, some residents said the purpose of the said money is yet to be felt as people continued to die of countless medical complications that should have been prevented or handled by qualified and trained doctors and nurses employed by the hospital.

Recall recently that the son of a Port Harcourt based correspondent of a National newspaper (name withheld) also died in what sources alleged was caused by poor medical handling of the case of the young man and poor power outage in the hospital.

In the past, the Braithwaite Memorial Hospital was renowned in offering medical services on pharmacy, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology and general medical services as reversed they said is now the case of the government owned hospital.
