ABANDONED BY GOVERNOR WIKE

Legacy tertiary medical facility, Kesley Harrison Memorial Hospital located at no.11 Emenike Street Mile One Diobu Port Harcourt provided by ex Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi now Minister for Transportation is now in ruins and dilapidated without functional management. The multi-Billion Naira hospital while in operation was managed by Private Public Partnership –PPP with functional experts in tertiary medical practice and several lives were saved especially indigent citizens and residents in Rivers state as majority of the beneficiaries of FREE Medical Programme instituted by Rt. Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s government.

Immediately in 2015, when the administration of Chief barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike took over the realms of administration the hospital began downward operations having skeletal services without funds and Critical Medical Team –CRT unit that saw to efficient emergency delivery of Healthcare to the downtrodden got renamed as death trap as one of Rivers state top Politician unburied Prince Nnamdi Wokekoro in December 2017 lost his life while on referral at the Kesley Harrison hospital over poor management of his low blood sugar diagnoses. Today, it is merely under lock and key with only security men watching over the Lizard infested hospital facility which may not survive the next rainy season in 2020. With the conversion of Braithwaite Memorial specialists Hospital OLD GRA Port Harcourt into Rivers State University Teaching Hospital-RSUTH , it is apparent that the government of Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike is bereft of ideas on how best to mange tertiary medical facilities even the secondary Hospitals popularly referred as General Hospitals at Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Degema Local Government Area, Bori in Khana Local Government Area are mere semblance of white-washing in terms of Healthcare management as the primary Healthcare found in the 319 electoral Wards in the 23 Local Government areas have turned to mere consulting clinics as most of the them now turned to Dustbin receptacles especially that of Rumuorlumeni has a Dumping site meant for Refuse receptacles that oozes foul fragrance smelling odour in front of it signifying unhygienic conditions in a Medical facility freshly constructed by Rt. Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi but poorly managed under the watch of governor Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike. Free Medical Programme is a mirage finally buried as cost of receiving Medicare in Rivers state is rising daily and avoidable deaths a common denominator in most of the Government managed hospitals in the state.
