Suspected case of Coronavirus in Lagos, patient isolated

…Ten days after some Chinese nationals tested negative, another national of China has undergone test for the disease

The Lagos State Government has begun investigation into a suspected case of Coronavirus in the State, as the suspect has been isolated.

A tweet by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on its Twitter handle on Wednesday night said the attention of the Lagos State Ministry of Health has been drawn to news making the round about a “suspected case of #COVIDー19 @Reddington Lagos.”

The government said action had been taken by the Ministry of Health and that the situation was currently being investigated.


The government said the patient has been isolated at the Mainland Hospital and that blood samples had been taken for investigation, while the result was being awaited.


“We are currently investigating. Patient Isolated at Mainland Hospital. Blood samples taken for investigation and we await result,” the government said.


“We would like to reassure Lagosians that our vigilance levels are high and we are putting more measures in place to safe guard our State,” it said.

Another Chinese takes coronavirus test in Lagos, he worked in on his own after complaining symptoms of the disease, we await the results on Friday.

Ten days after some Chinese nationals tested negative to coronavirus in Nigeria, another national of China has undergone test for the disease.

According to Olutunde Lalude, group medical director of Reddington Hospital Group, a Chinese national who arrived in Nigeria seven weeks ago underwent test for coronavirus in Lagos on Wednesday.

Lalude said the man presented himself at the hospital while complaining of fever, one of the symptoms of coronavirus.

He said as a precautionary measure, the man was isolated while health authorities in the state were alerted.

The doctor said the patient was subsequently transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in the state ahead of the results of the tests, which he said would be available on Friday.
