Corps Member in Rivers builds 4-Room toilet, Provides Sandals, Books, for Students

Daniel Efe/Port Harcourt.

A female National Youth Service Corps Member, Chioma Scholamaria Ugochukwu serving at Government Secondary School Ngo at Andoni LGA in Rivers State has build a 4-Room toilet (2 for males, 2 for females) for the school.

Besides building a Toilet facility, she also provided a blackboard, desks, 100 pairs of sandals and 200 books for the students.

She explained to a Port Harcourt based radio station that, what motivated her to embark on the project is that “When I was posted to the school, I saw how dangerous it was for students to defecate. There was only a wooden toilet for them.”

She said she was alarmed that the students defecate in the bush or because the only existing structure was so bad and was almost collapsing.

Miss Ugochukwu, said she is elated that she took up the challenge to solve the problem and it gladdens her heart that her students and society appreciate her noble efforts.

Miss Chioma Scholamaria Ugochukwu is among those Corps members who passed out today, Thursday, in Rivers.
