Unknown gunmen of Ubeta Community in Ahoada West in Rivers in early hours of yesterday attacked a Police Station injuring two Policemen on Special Duty, abduct one and dispossess them of service rifles.

Sketchy  information reveal that the critically injured Policemen are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

Nnamdi Omoni, DSP, the Spokesman of the Rivers Police Command confirmed the incident and the snatching of the service rifle. He said “One of our men was shot on the leg and they took our AK 47 rifle. When we learnt of the incident we mobilized immediately and we are on their trail. That was a surprise attack on our men it was a stroke of luck that our Officers survived and receiving medical attention”, Omoni said.

Corroborating the incident, a stakeholder from the Community, Nna Frank Jack, Publisher of a local tabloid in Port Harcourt said members of the community are living in fear as a result of the attack.

According Nna Frank Jack “I hear that unknown gunmen attack a Police station and abducted a Policeman. I hear that it was a hunter who secured the release of the abducted Policeman in the bush. As result of the incident there is fear of exodus from the community. We therefore appealed government and  security agencies to come to the aid of the community.”

He called on security agencies to come to the aid of the community to avert the ugly incident of 2016 when members of the community fled their homes based on the violent activities of hoodlums.
