Unknown gunmen have invaded the private in Toru-Orua Community in Sagbama residence of immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, killing Policeman protecting him
Gunmen reportedly invaded former Governor Seriake Dickson’s home at about 2:00am, on Thursday resulting in heavy gun battle between the assailants and security operatives in an attempt to foil the attack.
Corpse of the slain Policeman being evacuated from the scene of the attack. Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of The Bayelsa Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat hinted that the corpse of the deceased officer has since been deposited in a mortuary, while full scale investigation has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police.
Meanwhile, a statement from Ex-Governor Dickson’s Spokesman, Fidelis Soriwei, confirmed the attacked and death of a Policeman.
He said :A gallant Police team successfully prevented the gunmen who attempted to invade the compound through the Forcados River from gaining access.Unfortunately, a Police Officer who led the operation was killed in the hit and died in the attack.
Ex-Governor Dickson and his family were not in the compound during the attack having been away in Abuja and Yenagoa for about three weeks.”
Meanwhile, the Sagbama Council Boss, Hon. Embeleakpo Alale has commiserated with the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State and PDP flagbearer for the Bayelsa West Senatorial bye-election- The Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, whose Toru Orua residence in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was attacked by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Thursday.
Expressing shock over the sad incident, Hon. Embeleakpo also condoled with the Nigeria Police Force and the immediate family of the Police Inspector who lost his life, in the line of duty.
