Daniel Efe/Port Harcourt
Tragedy struck a family when a child aged two years and five months was attacked and killed by two hungry family dogs in Umuotube village farm road, Chokota Community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Eyewitnesses say the incident happened early this morning when the parents left for work. After killing the child they attempted feeding on the innocent boy’s flesh.
It was not also possible to ascertain the type of bred of the dangerous dogs.
The eyewitnesses told a Port Harcourt based radio station, the Nigeriainfo.fm today that the eldest child who is about seven years old, had unlocked the dogs’ cages, about to feed them but did not know that her younger sibling was outside the house.
Speaking on this, a Traditional ruler in Chokota Community, Ndubuisi Nwankwo, has advised residents to employ human security instead of using dogs.
At time of filing this report the Rivers State Police Command is yet to speak on this incident.
