Suspected
Serial killer, Gracious David West, who was allegedly unmasked through the
Close Circuit Television Cameras CCTVs yesterday and has been on wanted list by
the security agencies has been arrested by the Police.
He was said to have been arrested by very vigilant detectives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, around Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government in Ogoniland, while fleeing to the nearby Akwa Ibom state.
It was
learnt that since he was unmasked and his identity started buzzing online, he
went underground.
However, according to sources, the unrelenting media hunt for him and his face splashed all over the various internet platforms, the confines of Rivers State has been very uncomfortable for him hence he decided to flee to Akwa Ibom state.
Although the Police Command is yet to give an official confirmation of his arrest, notable Social Media influencers like Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, a CNN award winning Journalist, Publisher and former Commissioner for Information and Communications in Rivers was among the first to break the news of his arrest on her Facebook post thus:
“Gracious David West has been arrested. He was arrested in Bori. He has started making confessions”.
Since she
posted it online, there has been celebrations on the internet and several
shares by people.
Several
attempts made by our Correspondent to get official confirmation from the Rivers
State Police Command were not successful as DSP Nnamdi Omoni, the Police Public
Relations Officer, PPRO, could not pick his calls at the time of filing this
report.
It would be recalled however that Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, was also one of the leaders of scores of women who staged peaceful protest to Government House, DSS headquarters in Port Harcourt, Police Headquarters and the Rivers House of Assembly yesterday, Thursday September 18, calling for arrest of Serial Killers on rampage that had killed eight women according to Police.

An online post also credited to Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, General Overseer, Omega Power Ministry-OPM on Gracious David West had said: “This same Gracious David West was an ex-militant and a renowned armed robber that was rehabilitated by OPM church… The church even helped him to secure a job in Federal university of Technology, but went there to steal properties belonging to students and bolted.
He is said to be the only son among his siblings who are girls. He is said to have continued in perpetrating crime and he was subsequently declared wanted by the police in June 2018.
