*Police in Rivers have arrested 30 years old woman who stabbed twelve years old girl, left the knife stuck on her back and fled.
The victim of the vicious attack known as Miss Oluebube and and her attacker, simply identified as Abigail are both residents of Chukwu Street, Off R/D road in Rumuodara, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State where incident happened.
In an interview, Miss Oluchi, sister to the twelve year old girl lamented:
“My sister was washing dishes outside when our mother went to the market. The woman(Abigail) was fetching water outside because our corridor is dark, any person that is inside or outside can barely see each other.
She narrated further that her sister who was carrying water, did not know that the woman, Abigail, was coming into the corridor when both of them collided with each other.
“The woman fell with her bucket of water. The woman got angry and started beating my sister, everybody started begging her that my sister did not know she was at the corridor.
“She told my sister that she should sweep the water, before she comes back from fetching another water. My sister agreed.
“She went back to fetch another water, my sister continued to wash the plate. On coming back from where she went to fetch water and saw that the pool of water was still there, the woman entered inside her kitchen and pick a knife and stabbed my sister at the back.
“As soon as she saw that head of the knife broke and the knife stuck inside my sister’s back. She entered inside her room, locked her door, passed behind, scaled the fence and fled. She was caught eventually and taken to the Police.
Oluchi said her sister was admitted in the hospital where Doctors carried out surgery to extract the broken knife stuck at her back.
When contacted, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident.
SP Koko stated that the suspect is in Police custody, while the knife has been removed from the body of the twelve year old girl.
SP Koko assured that she is responding to treatment, while investigation is going on.
In the meantime, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
Prince Wiro, National Coordinator of the organization said the suspect should be arraigned in court immediately if found culpable in the course of investigation.
Meanwhile, the immediate past President of Rumuodara Youth Association, Comrade Frank Weli, commended the Police for the swift response in apprehending the suspect.
