Police Declares State Of Emergency Over Kidnapping And Killings Along Emohua Axis

The Rivers state Police command have declared a state of emergency on the Rumuiji, Ndele and Rumuekpe axis of the East-West road, all in Emohua Local Government Area, over the incessant kidnapping of passengers and hijacking of commercial buses.

Speaking on the issue, Nnamdi Omoni, Spokesman of the Police in the State said that the police are worried over the embarrassing rate of crime in that area, and have adopted effective policing strategies to curtail the incident. DSP Omoni said the measures being deployed by the police will yield results and the incident of the hijacking of commercials buses will soon be a thing of the past.

The Rivers State Police Spokesman also said investigation over allegations of policemen colluding with the criminals to perpetrate these crimes are already on going.

Meanwhile, Mr. Monday Eleazer, Deputy chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers Rivers State Chapter has expressed worry over the high crime rate along the Emohua axis of the East-West road, he  also  appealed to the Rivers State Government to partner with  the Nigerian army to tackle the menace.
