“We have initiated steps to identify the alleged officer; information about the incident has been escalated to Area Commander, Onitsha, for necessary actions.
The command also wishes to invite the victim to its Headquarters in Awka to get information that will help in facilitating the necessary procedures involved in the process,” he said.

A whistle blower had in a letter, alleged the alleged extortion of the young man in Onitsha, Anambra State by the yet-to-be-identified police officer.
He urged the police to kindly look into the case and help fish out the officers that have continued to destroy the image of the Police Force.

“We don’t want to keep seeing or hearing some of these horrifying stories and I can imagine the fear they subjected this young man before forcefully taking his money.

“The young man has stated that he will identify the officers and we are on standby to hear that justice has been served” he had written.
According to him, the action of some of the police officers is a reason there is a disconnect between the people and the police.
