The Divisional Police headquarters in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Sunday arrested a Pastor of a new generation Church located in the area for allegedly taking a married woman to a guest house to conduct spiritual cleansing and raped her.
According to the source, the Pastor allegedly directed the lady to book a room in a guest house at Igwuruta where the deliverance and spiritual cleansing will take place.
The source further disclosed that trouble started when the woman woke up after the so called “prayers and deliverance” and accused the Pastor of hypnotizing and raping her.
“The woman told her husband what transpired between her and the Pastor. The husband called the Pastor who allegedly threatened to kill the husband and wife if they continued with their claims,” our source said.
The said Pastor was arrested on his way to a Church service on Sunday evening. Our source said the Police has commenced investigation into the matter.
Police source told Our Correspondent that Police detectives had contacted the management of the guest house where the “deliverance” took place who confirmed that the Pastor and the married woman were guests in one of the rooms on Wednesday August 19. The Pastor was arrested, but later released on bail. However, the investigation is still on.
Meanwhile, Human Rights Advocate in Rivers State, Prince Wiro, confirmed receiving report of the alleged sexual assault on the married woman by the Pastor.
Mr. Wiro disclosed that the couple contacted him on Saturday to seek his advice and he encouraged them to report to the Police since there are allegations of threat to life from the said Pastor.
At the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command was yet to officially react to development.
