Jubilation in Port Harcourt over killing of notorious cult kingpin

*Late Gang leader, ex-convict rapist, murderer and serial armed robber

There was jubilation in parts of Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Sunday following news of killing of an ex-convict and notorious cultist Precious Adiele in a clash between his Iceland cult gang and rival Deygbam gang.

Two persons were said to have been killed in the clash at Berebabo axis of Gambia street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, on Saturday night.

It was gathered that the Deygbam cult group led by a former member of Iceland Cult ambushed the leader of ‘Pilot’ of the ‘Bar Beach’ Iceland axis later identified as Precious Adiele around the area and gave him several machete cuts which resulted to his death. According to a source, the Deygbam cultists after hacking their first target to death stormed a building where another member of Bar Beach Iceland cult group was believed to be residing, but did not see him.

The source added that the suspected Deygbam cultists set the building on fire in anger over missing of their target.

The source further revealed that an elderly man who was trapped in the building died in the inferno.

The rampaging cultists fled the scene before the arrival of Officers from Divisional Police headquarters Mile 1 and other Police formations, it was further gathered.

However, there were fears of further mayhem in parts of Port Harcourt on Sunday with speculations that the two cult gangs are planning reprisal and counter attacks.

SP Grace Grace Iringe-Koko, the Public Relations Relations Officer, PPRO for the Rivers State Command confirmed the incident and death of one Precious Adiele.

She confirmed that the 26 years old member of Iceland Cult group has been involved in a series of robberies and just returned from prison before he was killed.

She added that police operatives have visited the scene of the incident.

She further added that the scene of the clash had been visited by the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon has also deployed tactical teams to ensure no further breakdown of law in the area.

CP Effiong Okon also ordered for the arrest of members of the cult groups as investigation commenced.

However, the true identity of an elderly man who was trapped in the building and burnt to death has not been known at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the death of the cult kingpin and ex-convict who had a notoriety of being a regular visitor to prison has elicited jubilation from survivors of his criminalities in Port Harcourt.

He was said to have wasted many lives including;, that life of a young enterprising Muslem business man who had just withdrew money from Keystone bank at Mile 2 Diobu about three years ago. The man was murdered in cold blood at Gambia/Ikwerre road. His very young wife turned instant widow.

The death of that young man threw the Moslem community in Port Harcourt to serious mourning.

The late cult leader was also said to be responsible for the killing of another young Igbo business man after the man withdrew money from ATM machine at a bank opposite Nkpolu Secondary School Mile 3 Diobu on one fateful Saturday.

Unfortunately for him, his main man, one Mela, who recently returned from prison too, but crossed over from Iceland Cult group to Deygbam Cult group betrayed him and was said to have led the gang that killed him (Precious) yesterday night.

Reports have it that many woman who had been victims of rape and other atrocities of the said gang leader have been jubilating since yesterday when news of his death filtered in last night.
