The on-going allegation coming from Rivers state executive Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike that two police officers serving with Federal Anti-robbery Squad –F-SARS Rivers state Commander Akin Fakorede were arrested for kidnapping in Rivers state and that they have made confessional statements of which he is having in his custody. But this allegation has been debunked by Assistant Commissioner of Police-ACP Akin Fakorede told www.towncrier.ng that “This story is false. None of my ORDERLY or personal staff was arrested. The true version is that “I arrested two SARS officers namely Ndubuisi Okoro and David Abakpa on Sunday 10th of June, 2018 for unprofessional conduct of undue familiarity with suspects under investigation. This is an outcome of a kidnapping suspect on SARS watch list since October last year. The suspects Chigozie Onuigbo and Ifeanyi Okoye were arrested by SARS at Locations in Aba and Umuahia. During investigation the phone numbers of two SARS operatives were found in the operatives contacts and this informed my arrest of the SARS men to explain their relationship with the suspects.”
The F-SARS Rivers state commander Akin Fakorede has been having a running battle with the Rivers state executive Governor as a result of 2016 parliamentary rerun election. And currently Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Akin Fakorede had challenged Governor Wike to withdraw his fallacious statements with -in 7-Days or he would institute legal action against Rivers state. This is coming on the heels of the fact that a 15-man investigative Panel was set up by Inspector General of Police in 2017 and Akin Fakorede was found not culpable of the allegations leveled against him. And he was exonerated by the 15-man Investigative.
