Child trafficking syndicate confesses killing a mother of a 3-month-old baby, sells her baby for N250,000 in Rivers

* Suspect earlier arrested for kidnapping a nursing mother, brutalized her, dumped her in a pit and stole her 6 months old.

The Rivers state police command has paraded one Chinedu Nwachukwu from Imo state and one elderly woman Mrs Mary Ishmeal,68 years old for allgedly buying and selling  a three-month old baby for N350,000.

The suspect Chinedu Nwachukwu, stole the 3 months old baby from one Chinonye Queen Uzoma, who he killed and took away her baby.

After he was arrested,he led the Police to a building in Igwuruta where the decomposing body of the woman was found. She was identified by her relations through her hair do. 

The suspect who revealed that after killing the victim, sold the 3 months baby to a woman whom he identified as one Mary Ishmael 68yrs for #250,000 who later sold to another woman who is yet to be arrested at the cost of #350,000.

The second suspect, 68 year old Mrs Mary Ishmeal told journalists that she helped  Chinedu  Nwachukwu to sell the baby for N350,000 but gave him N250,000 while she (Mary)  collected N100,000 as her share of the deal.

The suspect who later confessed on 22 June 2020 in the same area kidnapped killed one lady  late Chinonye Queen Uzoma  the mother of a three month old baby and sold the baby at Igwuruta community in Ikwerre local government area for three hundred and fifty thousand naira.

Meanwhile, the deceased elder sister, Blessing Izuwa is demanding for justice.

Suspects Chinedu Nwachukwu and the second suspect, 68 year old Mrs Mary Ishmeal 

She said the suspect was sharing the same fence at Igwuruta with her late sister. According her adding her sister was declared missing  they reported to the Police Station at Igwuruta, but was later called by the Police to come and identified a corpse that seems to be like her late sister.

She identified the suspect of been a neighbour to the deceased. When suspect took them to the where the corpse it had decomposed. Only the cloth around the skeleton  showed that it was her missing sister.

Mrs Blessing revealed that the suspect further said the deceased baby was sold with the help of one  68year old Mary Ishmeal for the sum of N350, 000.

Recall that the same Suspect, Chinedu Nwachukwu, was also earlier arrested on Stop-and-Search at Omerelu nipping Point, where he was intercepted in Commercial  Bus carrying passengers from Port Harcourt to Owerri. On checking the Bus, they saw a man who was later identified as Chinedu Nwachukwu, 23 years old with a five month old baby. On interrogation, he could not give a reasonable account of how he came by the child.

 He was immediately handed over to the Divisiona Police Officer, Elele Division who further transferred the child and suspect to the State CriminaI Investigation Department,SCID. Further interrogations at the State CID revealed that he stolen the baby from his mother, whom he killed and dumped her remains in a pit in an uncompleted building at igwuruta Ikwerre LGA. 

Consequently, he led Police to the uncompleted building where the mother of the child was dumped. She was, however, evacuated  alive but in an unconscious state and later taken to the Hospital for medical attention.
