Aftermath of double Assassination in Port Harcourt: Police mobilize tactical units to track killers

Police detectives drawn various tackle units of Rivers Police Command have been mobilized to unravel motives behind the two separate assassinations of two men at two different locations in Port Harcourt yesterday.

Inside Sources in the Police Command affirm that Tactical Units and undercover Police detectives are working on various clues to unravel the killers and their motives.

Residents and Commuters in Port Harcourt were yesterday at about 4.30 pm thrown into shock and panic as unknown gunmen shot the two different men by people suspected to assassins at Woji Road GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt.

The first victim’s  vehicle, a KIA Optima with ABUJA KUJ 71AR  had its windshield shattered with bullets and deceased body was soaked in his blood later surrounded by Eyewitnesses.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the  assailants may have trailed the victim from an undisclosed location and shot him on the head at a pointblank range before zooming off and giving him not chance for survival.

Few hours earlier  another man  riding Hydaii SUV was also reportedly shot at George Sekibo Street, Off Peter Odili Road, Port Harcourt.

Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan,  told Journalists that the said the Victim  look was trailed from a bank where he went to withdraw undisclosed amount of money.

Mukan said: “The criminals followed the victim from a bank where he went to withdraw money. While they were chasing him he lost control of the steering and ran into a ditch.

“The criminals met him there and killed him. They did not take the money he withdrew. They were two people in the car when the incident happened. The other person sustained injuries and he is receiving treatment.

“At the moment, we have recovered the corpse of the victim and his car. We have commenced investigation to get the killers. We have gone to the bank to get footage of the outside CCTV camera that may have captured outside of the bank”, CP said.
