Inhuman treatment! A Couple dumps sick and crippled University graduate daughter in an evil forest shrine to die over prolonged illness in Bomadi, Delta State
A 26 year old lady was bound hands and legs and dumped in a shrine at Udophori community in Bomadi, Bomadi local Government area of Delta State by her mother and her stepfather yesterday, Friday May 15.
The young lady was found by some vigilante members of Udophori Community. After enquires, they discovered that her parents live in Bomadi so they returned her back to Bomadi where the mother and step Father of the child reside.
The alleged wicked mother of the crippled University graduate lady and her new husband arraign before the Elders’ council in Udophori Community, Bomadi.
The sick and crippled lady in crutches who was dumped in an evil forest shrine bound hands and legs to die.
According to statement made by the mother of the young lady whose name was given as Opuere resides in Bomadi but hails from Enekorah community also in Bomadi.
According to neighbours, the stepmother and her husband were said to be tired of spending so much money in treating her daughter who is now a crippled.
It was learnt that that mother and her new husband claimed that they have spent their last savings to treat the young lady decided as a last resort to dump her and allow her to die in a Village shrine in the forest.
Corroborating the story of the mother, the new husband confessed that the child is not his and bearing such responsibility has become a burden to him so both decided to dump her at a sacred place in Udophori community for the girl to die.
When the biological father of the girl who hails from Aleibiri was called by the Elders of Bomadi community to narrate his own side of the story, in his words he said “I am shocked by this incident my daughter was never born a cripple, she was with my relative in Lagos, she was in the University studying until she came visiting after graduation.
He further said that her conditioned changed when sometime ago she went to visit her mother and lived with her for a year.
“One day I got a message from my former wife that my daughter is sick when I got there I discovered she can’t work again all of a sudden. So, I took her to different places for treatment until my daughter said she should be taken back to her mother that she is the one that knows what happen to her. Her continuous persistence made me to take her to the mum and her husband. I am surprise to hear this side of the story”, he lamented.
According Eyewitnesses in the Udophori community where the lady found said members of the community condemned the inhuman act of the mother and her stepfather.
The Elders of Community said the couple have desecrated their land it needs cleansing, and that the action is an abominable act and they should be punished.
The Bomadi community leadership subsequently arrested the couple handed them over to the Bomadi Divisional Police headquarters in Bomadi, Delta State.
At the time of filing this report our Correspondent was yet to get the official reaction from the Delta State Police Command.
