As the Bayelsa State Chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, starts the screening of the 21 aspirants have
been warned to devote their energy and attention to their electoral campaigns
rather than indulging in acts inimical to the unity of the party.
The State Secretary of the party,
Chief Godspower Keku, warned aspirants against subversive activities capable of
jeopardizing the unity and cohesion within the party.
Keku also urged the aspirants desist
from launching acerbic attacks on the person of the Governor who according to
him has provided leadership and nourished PDP for almost eight years.
The PDP State Scribe was reacting to
fabricated publication about a non-existent conflict purportedly between him
and the governor.
Keku said that it was unfortunate that
a person aspiring to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming gubernatorial
election would focus attention on fabricating stories against the person of the
governor and officials of the party.
He noted that the party had become the
preferred destination of all politicians with genuine intent to govern the
state because of the sustained sacrifice and efforts of the party led by
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson and the State Working Committee.
The PDP Scribe called on Nigerians to
discountenance the false story which he described as the handiwork desperate
politicians out to sacrifice party cohesion in the pursuit of the selfish
agenda.
Keku added that those behind the story were the aspirants who sponsored five court cases against the successfully conducted local government elections in a surreptitious bid to stifle the process of delegate selection.

He lamented that some aspirants would rather make the governor the object of their needless invective’s in a political contest of which he is not a contestant.
Keku stressed that was neither scolded
nor attacked by the governor for any delegate related matter and urged
Nigerians to ignore the desperate antics of politicians who don’t mean well for
the party and the state.
