Daniel Efe/Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that Rivers people will resist any attempt by the APC Federal Government to rig the 2019 elections because it has no single project to market its candidates in the state. .

Governor Wike said that the APC Federal  Government has no single project  on ground in the state  to sell the party’s  candidates during the  forthcoming general elections in 2019.

Speaking during an interview with TVC at the  Government House Port Harcourt, Governor Wike noted that rigging is the only option left for the APC Federal Government. He, however, stated that the option will fail.

He said: “The people will resist. The people will stand their ground and insist that their votes must count. You saw the way the people resisted  at the National Assembly when the DSS invaded, that is how it will be in 2019. The people will stand firm.

“You saw a Rivers girl lead the resistance.  That is a Rivers girl. The hallmark of our courage as a people. This is not resistance by arms. We  don’t need to go and carry arms. How many people can the federal might kill?”

The governor added: “People should understand that Nigeria has gone beyond that point when anything you do, you get away with it. You see what happened at the National Assembly, could we have imagined in this world that the DG DSS would have been sacked?”

The governor noted that the rerun elections in Rivers State where the APC Federal Government deployed 40, 000 security personnel for rigging purposes, without success proved that Rivers people cannot be cowed.

Governor Wike debunked the claim that Federal Might helped him in 2015. He said the 2016 rerun showed the popular party in the state.

He said: “They did the rerun, who won in the rerun? We won massively.  The people stood their ground.  If we had lost, you would have justifiably said that Federal Might helped me in 2015.

On the forthcoming Presidential Primaries of the PDP, Governor Wike said that he has no preferred aspirant for now. He added that no single governor can determine the Presidential Candidate for the PDP.

The governor noted that the emergence of Prince Uche Secondus as National Chairman of PDP was the best thing to happen to the stability of the party.

He said if a weaker politician had emerged, the APC Federal Government would have penetrated the PDP. He said the return of Sheriff to APC indicated the damage the APC Federal Government  wanted to use him to do in PDP.

Dr Dakuku Peterside

In reaction to Governor Nyesom Wike ahead of 2019 General elections in Rivers State, Dr Dakuku Peterside,  the Director General of Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and the former Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, has vowed that no matter the seeming crisis in party in the state one goals  that all members party have resolved the Governor Nyesom Wike must be kicked out Governor come May 29.

NIMASA boss who spoke to a cross section of Journalists in Port-Harcourt on Sunday  stated emphatically that administration Nyesom Wike’s has plunged the state to its lowest ebb of financial recklessness that has never been witnessed before despite the huge resources accrued to the state through the Federal allocations and the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

He said for the past three years under the watch Governor Wike, all tenets of transparency in governance have been thrown into the winds.

“From the available statistics, Rivers State is at bottom of the ladder. It is the only state where the contracts are not advertised, the only state whose budgets for 2016, 2017 and 2018 cannot be found in the public domain.

” Governor Wike is the only one who has access to state budgets, state IGR. Even his Commissioners in is cabinet do not know how contracts are awarded. Some of confided in me that they can hardly pay their Children’s school fees.

Agricultural sector which is highest source of employment for the youthful population all over the world has been neglected by the Wike’s government. He has neither initiated new policy in the sector.

He blamed the media for the hype that the Wike’s administration enjoying that has created the impression that he is a performing Governor.

“Besides completing the projects of the previous administration Wike has not initiated any project except investigating a huge chunk of the resources of the state on the Judiciary.  All other sectors have been abandoned.”
