The military has arrested three persons suspected to be involved in the attacks that led to the death of no fewer than 86 people in some Plateau State communities at the weekend.
The suspects were paraded along with 14 others who were arrested in connection with unrest.
While two of the suspects are herdsmen, the third is a Berom, one of the minority ethnic groups in Plateau State.
Speaking with journalists while the suspects were being paraded, the spokesman of the Special Task Force, Maj. Umar Adams, said they were arrested carrying sophisticated rifles.
He said they were captured at Gashish District in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau.
His words: “We all know that some days back, some villages in Barkin Ladi were attacked and these three suspects were arrested in connection with that.
“As our men were repelling the attacks in those areas we arrested these suspects with four riffles, three locally made guns and one AK47.
“The other 14 people were arrested in connection with civil unrest recently experienced in the state.”
Adams disclosed that more arrests would be made, adding that investigations were still going on.
