Rivers APC Guber Aspirants With External Influence
HOW THEY PLAN TO WIN GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION
With the unveiling of FREEDOM HOUSE on Wednesday 25th April, 2018 distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe of All Progressive Congress APC Rivers state chapter is now calling on other Governorship aspirants in his political party APC to come forward and present themselves for Governorship Primary election in Rivers state . He made this declaration urging the admirers and supporters of APC to give those other aspirants maximum cooperation but to always vote for him so as to actualize his vision of creating an emerging Rivers state where freedom will be guaranteed for all irrespective of someone’s political leaning and inclination.
But aside from this clarion call to other Governorship aspirants of APC there indications that those aspiring to Governor Rivers state especially of All Progressive Congress-APC are averse in relying on external influence to win the Governorship Primary election. www.towncrier.ng here undertakes an unscientific survey on the factors that may lead to the emergence of a winner in the APC Rivers state Primary election.
One of the intra personal qualities possessed by Senator Magnus Ngei Abe is his natural sense of appeal to all demographic groups be it the youths, the middle income class, the aged members of the society and women groups who find in him a cool and calm attribute signifying trust and self confidence in whatever he tells you that he will do. For the upper class Senator Magnus Ngei Abe is refined , educated as a lawyer with experience in running a cabinet executive made up of diverse intellectual opinionated group. He is well connected with the Presidency based on his affiliation with the first family as his elder brother Dr. Noble Abe former Managing Director of Onne Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone Rivers state as reliably gathered had first encounter with the first Nigerian family in his hey days as a member of the National Youth Service Corps-NYSC performing his mandatory primary assignment at Daura town in katsina state in the mid 1980s and he Dr. Noble Abe was at hand when general Muhamadu Buhari had his first set back in life during the General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida’s military coup d’état took place as he ferried the first family to safety as a Youth Corps member. That single bravado of an unknown Nigerian youth deserves reward and the time is now irrespective of what any political leader of APC in Rivers state may dictate Rivers South East senatorial District and the Ogoni ethnic nationality where senator Magnus Abe hails from has the natural and moral qualification to present a candidate to vie for the office of the executive Governor of Rivers state since 51-years after the creation of Rivers state on May 27th 1967. But senator Magnus may lack financial muscle to prosecute his gubernatorial ambition irrespective of his Aso Rock connection. He who gathers political structure in terms of control of the state delegates takes the Governorship ticket of APC in Rivers state.
He is a native of Opobo the same senatorial district Rivers South East where senator Magnus Ngei Abe comes from. Everyone in Rivers state has no doubt about the academic qualification possessed by Dakuku Adol Peterside but the Director General of NIMASA has every right to vie for the exalted office of the Governor of Rivers state but his external inclination to the Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is his undoing simply because of the attachment of being a university ally of the wife of the former Governor of Rivers state from 2007 to 2015. As it could be traced that while Dakuku Adol Peterside was Commissioner for Works in Rivers state he was Chairman of Empowerment Support Initiatives—ESI a Nonprofit and Non Governmental Organization –NGO run by Dame Judith Amaechi where the launching of the Kindergarten Early Childhood education trust fund was chaired by Dakuku Adol Peterside while doubled as Commissioner of Works. So, the fear of lack of freedom if elected executive Governor of Rivers state remains his albatross and many Rivers state people are not at home with trusting him with their mandate as being elected governor of their dear state.
You need not look any further about Barrister Dumo Lulu-Briggs and his Governorship ambition being the son of the most quoted richest man in Rivers state High Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs. First is the fact that he is now being addressed as a serial political party defector in Rivers state with unsteady membership trait to any of the registered political party in Nigeria. Whereas that is his constitutional right as a citizen to choose any political association in which his quest to serve Rivers people could be realized but the regular occurrence of his defection is bringing distrust and lack of seriousness as he was a registered member of Peoples Democratic Party prior to 2003 by few months to 2003 General elections he defected to National Democratic party-NDP and was cruising home with victory only to allegedly sell-out and withdrew from the governorship race 2-days to election proper where he asked his supporters to vote for Dr. peter Odili and thereafter he traveled to London where he stayed until his companies went into insolvency. And Dumo Lulu-Briggs unable to pay his workers and financial obligations returned to Nigeria where he picked a political appointment as Chairman Federal Medical Center FMC Hospital Owerri in Imo state. Today Dumo owns Platform Oil and Gas exploration and Exploitation Company Limited.
He was commissioner for Works in ex Governor Amaechi’s administration at the exit of Dr. Peterside who went into Federal House of Representatives in 2011. Victor Giadom is being seen as a Deputy Governorship material waiting or the Minister for Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to anoint him. He was elected Chairman of Gokana Local Government Council and in 2014 was appointed Director-General Dakuku Adol Peterside –DAP 2-gether Governorship campaign.
The Degema born administrator Sekonte Davies Ph.D has been in the corner waiting to unleash his political game plan and his closeness to the Transportation Minister Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi whose political Pressure Group “I SEE YOU GROUP IN APC” may have the last laugh if he springs up to claim the APC Governorship ticket.
This former Commissioner to ex Governor Peter Odili, Emma Deeyah is smart and cunny when it comes to grabbing political power. This is coming on the heels that people usually under rate him but he is tipped for Deputy Governorship ticket. He is in the camp of ex Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and controls Ogoniland along with Victor Giadom.
He is not well known in Rivers state as he is said to have been at Lagos most of his youthful days as his father Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole is not disposed that his son who cannot speak Kalabari local language should be drafted into Rivers state Governorship race. Today, Tonye Cole is calm and not vocal as regards to his Governorship ambition.
