The candidate of Social Democratic Peoples Party, SDP in the 2023 presidential election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has said the petitions of Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Peter Obi of Labour Party, LP challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress, APC will be dismissed by the court.
The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja has recently reserved its judgment on petitions seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office after all the parties adopted their final briefs of argument.
The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-member panel of the court is expected to announce the date for the judgment in the petitions anytime from now.
But ahead of the announcement, in a tweet over the weekend, Adebayo said the petitions by the PDP and LP candidate as well as another by the APM against Tinubu were unproven and comically argued at the tribunal by the lawyers.
He therefore advised opposition to start preparing for the election in 2027 in his official tweet handle @Pres_Adebayo, adebayo
He added that the lawyers and not the judges should be blamed for the imminent dismissal of the petitions.
He said, “This year’s election petitions are the easiest to dispense with since 1999. No need for any judicial acrobatics. They fall within clear jurisprudence and well-established precedents.
