Daniel Efe/Port Harcourt.

The family of one Mr. Life Sunday, has raised alarm over alleged death of their Son in  custody of Octopus Strike Force unit of the Rivers State Police command.

They are calling on CP Effiong Okon, Commissioner of Police of the Rivers State Command that had assured that no issue of human rights abuse would be swept under the carpet in maiden mission statement to Officers, men and Rivers people.

The elder brother to  Mr Life Sunday, Leegbari Sunday, in a telephone interview with Journalists said Mr Life Sunday was arrested around Odani area, Elelewon in Obio-Akpor Local Government area on 7th October, 2022 .

The Elder brother to the suspect disclosed that the Police personnel at Octopus Strike Force unit, told them that their brother was arrested based on a petition written by a prominent person in their area in Ogoni alleging that the suspect is a notorious person.

Leegbari Sunday said the Police did not allow members of the family to their brother access to him and neither did they allow him access to a lawyer.

He said they  told the Police unit to charge their brother to court if he has committed any crime but the Police declined.

Leegbari Sunday revealed that recently the family got reliable information that their brother may have died due to torture in Police custody.

Mr Leegbari called on the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon, to order the Octopus Strike Force unit to produce their brother (Life Sunday) in public or in  Court if they claim he is alive and to allay their fears.
