Residents of Akwaka Rumuodomaya, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State are crying for help from the Police and other security agencies as they now hurriedly close their shops as early as 8pm after repeated robberies.
Gunmen had on Monday night at about 8pm abducted a woman after shooting sporadically into the air at Road 10 junction, Akwaka phase two.
A follow up visit to the area showed that before 8pm, both shop owners and residents close up their businesses and social activities to avoid being robbed.
 Eyewitnesses and victims who resident in the area told our Correspondent on condition of anonymity that before the Monday attack by gunmen who may trailed their female Victim from Ruby Centre road, Off Airport road, to Road 10 junction before they were intercepted, there have been frequent robberies on shop owners and residents.
Residents in the area calling on CP Okon Effiong, Commissioner of Police to come to the aid of the residents by ensuring regular patrols of the area, especially during the Yuletide season and beyond.
They suggest that Police Command should activate more Police Unit located at the defunct SARS headquarters in Rukpokwu and the the Divisional Police headquarters in Rumuodomaya for adequate policing of the area.
“We are pleading with the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon, to use his good office as a matter of urgency to patrol the area and smoke out the miscreants.
The rising criminalities in Akwaka are happening less than few days after the Commissioner of Police, in Rivers State, CP Effiong Okon, gave ten days grace to Criminal elements to submit their guns.Â
At the time of filing this report, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command is yet to speak on what it is going to safeguard Akwaka residents after frequent robberies and kidnappings.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report residents of the area are yet to fathom the true identity of the female Victim abducted on Monday.
