Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced the auctioning of forfeited vehicles seized from suspects and convicts at its Port Harcourt zone yesterday, and to be continued today, Tuesday.
Osita Nwajah, a Commander of the EFCC, who is a Director in the Public Affairs Department and a member of the Asset Disposal Committee addressed members of the public who came to Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, venue for viewing said the actual bidding starts today, Tuesday morning between 8.30 am to 4pm.
In a chat with our Correspondent, Nwajah explained that interested members of the public are invited to participate in the exercise as advertised by agency.
He assured that the exercise is being conducted in the most transparent manner without “underhand or hanky panky under any guise because the money used in buying those vehicles are stolen money belonging to the people that the Court has ordered final forfeiture. Justice can be slow but it will always come”.
Our Correspondent who was at venue yesterday observed that viewing of vehicles is on Monday, December 12, 2022 was actually photogallery of the vehicles slated for auctioning. But the agency assured that before purchases the buyers will do physical inspection of the vehicle, the exercise is for two days; 13th -14th December, 2022.
