Gunmen suspected to be Kidnappers last night at about 8pm abducted a woman at road 10 junction, Akwaka phase 2, Rumuodomaya, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
An Eyewitness told our Correspondent on condition of anonymity that the gunmen may have trailed her and her Driver from Ruby Centre road Off Airport road to Road 10 intercepted the woman.
Attempts made by the Driver to out maneuver the suspected kidnappers failed as her SUV Lexus plunged into the gutter. She was dragged out of her vehicle as they shot sporadically while her Driver, residents and other passersby scampered for safety.
She said the woman’s vehicle, which was abandoned by the gunmen has been removed as at the time she came to work this morning.
Residents in the area called on CP Okon Effiong, Commissioner of Police to aid the residents more vigilance and adequate policing of the area by the Police in Rumuodomaya, the Anti-kidnapping units and the Unit located along the popular SARS road of the Rivers State Police Command to patrol the area.
The Eyewitness could not ascertain if it was the Police that removed the victim’s vehicle.
The suspected kidnap incident comes less than few days after the Commissioner of Police, in Rivers State, CP Effiong Okon, gave ten days grace to Criminal elements to submit their guns.Â
At the time of filing this report, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko promised to get back to our Correspondent when contacted but was yet to do so.
