National Industrial Court of Nigeria Port Harcourt Judicial Division Loses Justice Awwal Ibrahim-3-Days To Hearing Rivers Correspondents Journalists Case

It was a sad day when on Monday 26th February, 2018 Rivers State correspondents’ chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists-NUJ woke up to get the news about the untimely death of erudite Justice Awwal Ibrahim a sitting Judge of National Industrial Court of Nigeria Port Harcourt Judicial Division.

 

In a statement, on Monday 26th February, 2018, Ag. Chief Registrar, the NIC President, Justice B. A. Adejumo, said that there will not be court sitting in view of the demise of the late jurist who died in the early hours of Monday.

 

“May God forgive the deceased his entire shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest,” Justice Adejumo said. Late Justice Ibrahim was appointed a judge of the National Industrial Court in 2008.

 

After his Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the University of Maiduguri, he proceeded to University of Warwick, Coventry, England for his LL.M and backed it up with a doctorate degree in Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.

 

Justice Ibrahim served on the Attorney General of the Federation’s working committee on the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and was also on its Editorial Board.

In the field of academics and research, Justice Ibrahim was a lecturer at the graduate and post graduate levels in the areas of Constitutional Law, Labour and Industrial Relations Law at the University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri, Borno State.
