Some citizens of Abia State have dragged Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, accusing him of abandoning governance for frequent globetrotting in recent times with Governor Nyesom Wike.
In a Facebook post by Comrade Karl Chinedu Uchegbu, a popular Civil Rights Activist and former Editor of Beacon, (a Port Harcourt based tabloid) a citizen of Abia, said; “His frequent junkets aboard the Rivers state government owned jet, has simply catapulted the follow come, Abia governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on a futile flight of fancy.”
Cross section of some roads in deplorable state as posted by Comrade Karl Chinedu Uchegbu.
According to Uchegbu, Ikpeazu has abandoned his people and taken permanent residence in the skies, where London, Paris, Istanbul and Dubai, are just a click away.
He dismissed the claims made by Governor Ikpeazu that his administration has delivered more than 150 roads to the state in the past seven years.
Governor Ikpeazu in a state broadcast to commemorate 31st anniversary of Abia had said the roads have also boosted socio-economic development of the state.
He added that the roads would also help to stem rural-urban drifts.
The Civil Rights Activist asked “Now, where are these roads? Currently there is road to Arochukwu without passing through Akwa Ibom. There is no road from Umuahia to Isiukwuato. There is no road in the entire Ukwa East and West. There is no road in Ikpeazu,’s Obingwa Local Government Area
Uchegbu further asked to know; “Where the heck are these roads? Inside Aba town, Port Harcourt road l, Faulks road, Jubilee road, are an eye sore The whole of Ariaria area is worse than a post apocalyptic nightmare”.
He accused Governor Ikpeazu who proudly of owing lecturers in both Abia Polytechnic, Abia State University and Abia state College of Education technical, Arochukwu over 30 months salary. And wonders how such a man sleeps at night.
He wondered how Ikpeazu will feel commissioning some road projects in Rivers state executed by his fellow governor.
The Civil Rights Activist concluded by stating that “Abia at 31 is a testimonial to Ikpeazus’ gross incompetence and perennial folly”, Uchegbu said.
Uchegbu posted photos some deplorable roads in Abia State some of which are enmeshed in flood and impassible.
Also, another Abian, Peter Ekekwe in an open letter addressed to Governor Wike in his online post titled:”Abians want Ikpeazu Sacked by Gov. Wike”.
Below is the full text of the letter.
Dear Governor Wike,
It is a disservice to the long suffering people of Abia State for you to continue to house and travel the World with Okezie Ikpeazu while workers and people of the State struggle to escape the sorrow inflicted on them by their Governor, who now operates more like your Personal Assistant.
Please send him packing out of your mansion back to the hell hole he has turned Abia State into.
