Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffers another blow as George Tolofari, a Chieftain of APC resigns his membership of the party.
Tolofari, a former Commissioner of Transport in the State, under the administration of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as Governor of the State and coordinated the emergence of Tonye Cole as the consensus Governorship candidate of the party.
Tolofari, a strong ally of Amaechi has been playing a vital role in stabilizing the faction of the party loyal to Amaechi.
In a short message posted online that “I have decided to quit effective immediately”.
“This may come as a surprise to many but regrettably I wish to inform you all personally that I’m no longer convinced remaining in the All Progressives Congress.”
He thanked his erstwhile colleagues in the party for their love and support, pledging that he would not take their support for granted.
“Let me thank each and everyone of you for your support and love shown to me these past years while we worked together as party men and women.”
“Together we’ve been through a lot and have come out strong in most cases. I can never take your support for granted and will cherish those fond memories.”
George Tolofari was the one who masterminded Chairman of the party’s Elders Council that chose Tonye Cole from among the 12 governorship aspirants and has also been responsible for reaching out to other party chieftains to galvanize them together.
Just like some others who resigned before him, Tolofari who hails from Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State did not State which party he may join.
