DAKUKU PETERSIDE AND HIS 2023 GOVERNORSHIP AMBITION: WILL HE DEFECT

Given the gale of defections of politicians to other political parties so as to realize their political aspirations, the 2015 All Progressives Congress-APC Governorship candidate Dr. Adol Dakuku Peterside is now currently nursing the same political dream of becoming an elected Governor of Rivers state come 2023. But he has not made his decision public yet the various criticisms of the policies of the incumbent governor of Rivers state by Dr. Dakuku has led credence to the rumour making the rounds that after all he is eyeing Rivers state Governorship position.

His All Progressives Congress Rivers state chapter has factions one led by Senator Magnus Ngei Abe and another led by Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Whereas Dr. Dakuku belong to Amaechi’s camp, his closeness to the Minister of Transportation has lost steam since he was denied second term as Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA and his Running mate Honourable Asita O. Asita chosen to replace as Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA. In all respects Dr. Adol Dakuku Peterside hails from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area eastern Ijaw Riverine coastal area of Rivers state where the Minister of Transportation is said to have taken firm position to zone the 2023 Rivers state APC Governorship candidate to. Now those in the know speculate that the Opobo born politician has plan B should he be denied the APC Rivers state Governorship ticket. But will he defect to which political party given the 2022 Electoral act amendment?
Dr. Dakuku Peterside has support among the youths of Rivers state but his 5-years stay as Director General of NIMASA did it impact the youths of the state? How else will he go around the state to solicit for electoral votes when his criticism of the present administration has not been accepted deep in the 23-Local Government Areas of Rivers state.
