The Police in Rivers State with support from youths of Nkpolu Orowuroko community, on Christmas day, arrested 11 suspected shop thieves at the Mile 3 Diobu axis of Port Harcourt.
The boys were arrested while allegedly attempting to rob shop owners at the Bayelsa line of the market on Saturday, December 25.
A source informed Newsmen that six of the hoodlums were detained at the Nkpolu Police Division, while 5 of them are currently with the Octopus strike force.
Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu Orowuroko community, Godstime Ihunwo in a chat with newsmen said the hoodlums would have succeeded but for the intervention of youths of the area and Police officers.
He also confirmed that the hoodlums attempted to snatch a rifle from a soldier attached to a construction company at Ikokwu.
He condemned the incident and warned residents to desist from such act or face the wrath of the law when caught.
