There is a gradual withdrawal of police officers attached to the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, following a flurry of complaints bordering unethical application of duties against some policemen attached to the agency.
Apparently piqued by the development, the office of the IGP, directed all the Senior Police Officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent to be withdrawn and report to Force Headquarters, Abuja for further directives.
It was learnt that in the directive, IGP informs that the need to transfer the officers was not unconnected with operational requirements of the force.
The memo which was copied to the Chairman of EFCC further directed that, a comprehensive list of all the police officers attached to the agency be forwarded with the date of their transfer and designation in the agency for the purpose of updating their records.
With this development, it appears that the new IGP is set to overhaul the anti-graft agency with the view to repositioning the police along professionalism and excellence, while EFCC is also expected to double up in its activities.
Force headquarters sources had earlier informed our Correspondent that the compliance to the directive was noticeable this morning as the withdraw Senior Police Officers filed at the office of the IGP,s Principal Staff Officer for documentation
