A Port Harcourt State High Court presided over by Justice George Omereji has thrown out contempt charge Sokonte Davies, Andrew Uchendu and others brought before it by Hon. Igo Aguma, a claimant to the Chairmanship seat of the Caretaker Committee of the APC.
Aguma had gone to court to press contempt charges against some statutory members of the APC, who suspended him from office for failing to comply with the decision of the court and the dictates of the APC Constitution.
In its ruling this morning the court held that the case filed by Hon. Aguma was lacking in merit and awarded a N50,000 fine against Aguma.
Many APC members of the APC are in a jubilant mood as the news spreads across Rivers State.
So far, the APC is yet to react to the High Court decision, but there are strong indications that a statement from the party is being awaited.
